Common Questions About AC & Heating
Straightforward answers about air conditioning installation, costs, and what to expect when you work with us.
Heating & Heat Pumps
Yes. Every system we install is a reverse-cycle heat pump. In summer it cools; in winter it extracts warmth from outside air and pumps it inside. One unit does both jobs, all year round.
In many cases, yes. A modern inverter heat pump delivers 3 to 4 units of heat for every 1 unit of electricity used. With current energy prices, running costs are often lower than a gas boiler, and significantly lower than electric panel heaters or storage heaters.
Our systems comfortably heat rooms to 21 to 24°C even when outside temperatures drop to -10°C or lower. Most UK winters present no problem at all for a modern heat pump system.
A split system is ideal for heating individual rooms or spaces — home offices, living rooms, bedrooms, extensions and garden rooms. It is not a direct replacement for a whole-house wet central heating system with radiators. If you want to reduce reliance on your boiler in specific rooms, it works very well for that.
Costs & Pricing
Our standard single-room installation prices are: 2.5 kW — £1,600 / 3.5 kW — £1,800 / 5.0 kW — £2,100 / 7.0 kW — £2,600. All fully fitted, including supply, pipework and commissioning. These prices are for domestic residential properties and are VAT-exempt. Commercial and business installations are subject to VAT at the standard rate — this will be stated clearly in your quote. 5.0 kW and 7.0 kW systems also require a dedicated 20A mains supply, priced separately at £150–£450. Prices cover a standard installation: up to 10 metres pipe run, vertically down only. View full pricing details
A modern inverter system typically costs 10 to 20p per hour to run, depending on your electricity tariff and how the system is set. Heat pump mode in winter is considerably cheaper than electric heating.
Contact us for current servicing rates. We recommend a service once a year to keep the system running efficiently, protect your warranty, and catch small issues before they become expensive ones.
No fixed call-out charge. You pay for the engineer’s time and any parts needed. We will always give you a clear price before any work starts — no surprise bills on the day.
The quoted price covers: the indoor and outdoor units, all pipework and cabling up to 10 metres (vertically), electrical connection to a suitable supply, commissioning, and a full handover demo. The only things priced separately are a dedicated 20A mains circuit (required for 5.0 and 7.0 kW systems, £150–£450) and any non-standard pipe runs such as horizontal runs or extra bends. These are always agreed with you upfront.
We do not currently offer consumer finance. For larger commercial projects we are happy to discuss staged payment arrangements — just ask when you get in touch.
Installation
A standard single-room installation takes 4 to 6 hours. Multi-room or commercial installations take longer. We always give you a clear timeframe before we start.
Usually not for a standard domestic installation in England. Listed buildings or properties in conservation areas may have restrictions. We can advise during your site survey.
Yes. We offer a professional site survey for £70. Paul or one of our licensed engineers will visit your property, carry out a full assessment of your space, layout and installation options, and give you personalised recommendations in person on the day. You will receive a written report of findings — yours to keep. If you go ahead with an ICE KOOL installation, £50 is credited toward your installation quote. Learn more about our site survey
We take care of your home throughout. Dust sheets are laid before work starts, all wall penetrations are neatly sleeved and sealed, and we tidy up fully before we leave. Most customers are surprised by how clean we are.
Yes, in most cases. The key consideration is where the outdoor unit can be sited — typically on an external wall, a balcony, or a flat roof with suitable access. If you are in a leasehold property you may need written permission from your landlord or managing agent before work begins. We can advise on the best approach.
Most standard domestic installations are booked within the same week. We work around your schedule — just let us know what works for you when you get in touch.
Yes, within reason. The indoor unit needs to be on an external or party wall (to allow the pipe to run out), high enough to distribute air evenly, and clear of obstructions. We will discuss positioning with you before any work starts and make sure it works for both airflow and appearance.
The Systems
Room size is the main factor. As a rough guide: up to around 20m² — 2.5 kW; 20–35m² — 3.5 kW; 35–50m² — 5.0 kW; over 50m² or open-plan — 7.0 kW. Ceiling height, insulation, glazing and sun exposure all affect the right choice. If you are not sure, our site survey gives you a confirmed recommendation before you commit to anything.
We install Samsung systems as our primary range, which are well regarded for reliability, efficiency and after-sales support. We also work with other leading manufacturers depending on project requirements. All systems we supply come with a full 10-year manufacturer warranty.
The outdoor unit is typically mounted on an external wall, a flat roof, or a balcony. It needs clear airflow around it and should not be boxed in. We will advise on the best position during your site survey or when we visit to quote.
Modern systems are very quiet. Indoor units typically run at 20 to 30 dB, which is quieter than a normal conversation. Outdoor units produce more airflow noise but are placed outside. We will advise on positioning to minimise any impact.
Yes. Every system we install includes a 10-year manufacturer warranty. Our installation workmanship is also guaranteed. Keeping up with annual servicing is required to maintain the full warranty period.

Yes. ICE KOOL is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. WhatsApp us or email icekoolltd@gmail.com at any time — for emergencies, repairs or general enquiries.
Contact us straight away via WhatsApp or email. We are available 24/7 and attend most repair calls within 24 hours. Do not attempt to repair the system yourself — air conditioning contains refrigerant under pressure and must only be worked on by an F-Gas certified engineer.
Once a year is what we recommend. Annual servicing keeps the system running at full efficiency, protects the 10-year manufacturer warranty, and lets us spot any minor issues before they become costly repairs. We will send you a reminder when yours is due.
Yes. We repair all makes and models. We carry diagnostic tools and common spare parts on every vehicle, so most faults are identified and fixed on the first visit. Contact us for current repair rates.
