ICE KOOL operates a full Health & Safety Management System in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. The safety of our engineers, clients, and the public is never compromised.
At ICE KOOL, health and safety performance is treated as an core part of how we run the business. Failing to manage health and safety effectively can cause real harm to people, and that’s something we take seriously. We take an active approach to prevent this.
This Health & Safety Policy has been developed to enable ICE KOOL to comply with the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated legislation. It sets out the policy, organisation details and arrangements for health, safety and welfare relating to all ICE KOOL work activities in the United Kingdom. The policy is issued to all employees, companies, sub-contractors and individuals before they carry out any work under the ICE KOOL name.
The following objectives are set by ICE KOOL management and reviewed annually.
To maintain statutory standards of health and safety performance and keep improving how we work.
To avoid accidents and ensure nobody suffers ill health as a result of employment within ICE KOOL or due to our work activities.
To plan and manage activities so that foreseeable hazards are assessed and risks within our organisation are managed as far as reasonably practicable.
To review and compare results annually with the previous year’s results to measure the effectiveness of controls and determine any further actions required.
Every ICE KOOL job is planned and managed to these standards. No exceptions.
All work activities are risk assessed before work begins. Foreseeable hazards are identified and control measures documented, communicated and regularly reviewed in line with the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
All employees receive induction training and additional role-specific H&S training. Work is only undertaken by competent persons. Training records are kept for every employee and reviewed regularly, including when work activities or equipment change.
Company-issued Personal Protective Equipment is provided to all employees. A PPE register is maintained identifying what has been issued and when. Failure to wear required PPE leads to disciplinary investigation.
COSHH assessments are carried out on hazardous substances used in or generated by our work activities, including refrigerants and compressed gases. Employees are trained in safe use, handling and storage. Safety data sheets are obtained from all material suppliers.
All accidents, incidents and near-misses are recorded. Reportable events (fatalities, major injuries, absences over 7 days and dangerous occurrences) are submitted under RIDDOR. Risk assessments are reviewed and control measures updated following any incident.
First aid personnel and equipment are provided in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and Approved Code of Practice L74. All first aid kits contain at minimum the legally required supplies. First aid kits are also supplied in all company vehicles.
ICE KOOL operations are structured around the following UK legislation. Employees are trained to the requirements of each regulation relevant to their role.
ICE KOOL manages health and safety using the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle. The policy and safety management system are subject to the following controls.
