HTM 03-01 is the NHS guidance on ventilation in healthcare buildings, and HBN 11-01 is the design guidance for GP practices and health centres. We follow their practical points: no units with water reservoirs, regular cleaning, full service records for your estates file, and air conditioning that never replaces required fresh-air ventilation. Work is done around surgery hours.
Older residents are among the people most at risk in hot weather. UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) guidance asks care homes to have a cool room or area that can be kept below 26°C, and to check indoor temperatures during hot spells.
We fit quiet units positioned away from beds, controllers that can be limited so settings are not changed by accident, and cooling for medicine rooms. Risk assessments and method statements are supplied before work starts, and work times are agreed with the manager.
People exercising hard give off far more heat and moisture than people sitting still, so a full class can turn a studio hot and humid in minutes. We size systems from room size, glazing, equipment and class numbers.
Studios, the gym floor, changing rooms and reception can each have their own zone. We also plan fresh-air ventilation, because air conditioning on its own recirculates the air in the room.

Rules we check for every business. Buildings with more than 12kW of air conditioning need a TM44 energy inspection at least every five years, larger systems need regular F-Gas leak checks with records kept, and HSE guidance says workplaces should normally be at least 16°C.
